Tapes ‘n Tapes/Cold War Kids @ Echo
There's enough hype surrounding their show this weekend to satisfy your blog reading for the year. The blog to (not quite) riches Tapes ‘n Tapes, and everybody’s favorite post-Coachella band, Cold War Kids, are hitting the muted limelight of Echo Park this weekend, in what might be one of the most exciting pairings of the year. Though the show has been sold out for some time, we might all need a reminder of the caliber of these bands - for they are the big guns.
If you have been reading the underground, mainstream, or sidestream media, you can’t deny the permanence of Tapes ‘n Tapes over the last year. Their debut, The Loon, has been mentioned, whispered, and screamed just about everywhere, and for good reason- it’s as good as they all say it is. The Content has been huge fans of Cold War Kids, after we inducted them into our Flaming Hot LA Bands a few months ago. After kicking ourselves for missing their performance with Akron/Family at UCLA this winter, we finally have the chance to see them at home. Initially catching our ear after hearing comparisons to Jeff Buckley and the Velvet Underground, Cold War Kids proves to be as versatile in their sounds, as is their list of comparisons. One minute they sound like they are belting choir ballads in prison cells, the next minute as if singing sweet miseries to blues ridden ghosts. From the talk about their two EPs, Up In Rags and With Our Wallets Full, Cold War Kids might be able to cash in on the blog hype that introduced so many to Tapes ‘n Tapes. Keep your fingers crossed as you listen to these standout tracks.

Once we get the pics from our photographer. They are going to be great, so I think it will be worth the wait.
I haven't hear these guys, a couple of friends told me that they are good, Im going to listen them to see what is all the fuzz about.
