The Content's Book List Continues...

Nick here, back again with another installment of The Book/Music Dating Game. This time around all songs were chosen solely based on their shared theme with the respective book. I'd love to hear your suggestions, if you have read any of these books. About half of my choices are based on very concrete themes and parallel events, while the other half come out of common moods and artistic intention.

The Crying Of Lot 49

[mp3] The Postal Service - Natural Anthem

House of Splendid Isolation

[mp3] U2 - Sunday, Bloody Sunday

[mp3] The Mars Volta - Intertiatic E.S.P

Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close

[mp3]
Sufjan Stevens - The Upper Peninsula

Propaganda and Control of the Public Mind

[mp3] Bright Eyes - Let's Not Shit Ourselves

Bonus DVD pick:

That's an interesting connection between "Natural Anthem" and Crying of Lot 49. I always thought "Anthem" had a bit of a situationist quality about it ... certainly more than anything else on Give Up.

This is really weird. I have just been looking for a place to download Natural Anthem because it has been stuck in my head the last few days.

Now I find your blog, one day after I have decided to pick up The Crying of Lot 49 again.

So I guess I will combine the two on this lazy Sunday.
