Even More New Radiohead

Just when the Content thought we had given you all the new Radiohead you could ask for, the boys started playing even more new tunes as they began their North American tour. “Videotape” might be my favorite of the news songs that Radiohead has debuted, and the closest the band will ever get to their own “With Or Without You.” If nothing else, these tracks seem to add to the fact that the new album is not going to be anything to complain about.

To hold you over.

This is great - thanks!
Have you ever actually found anybody who has complained about Radiohead?

Actually, yeah. I remember some acquantances kind of blowng off Kid A in the beginning and some were slightly disappointed with Hail to the Theif. I didn't really think about all that when I wrote it but rather that the album is just going to be a good one. By the way, isn't "Videotape" gorgeous?

My only fear is playing these songs out before having the chance to listen to them in the context of an album. Needless to say, I'm sure the album will be brilliant.

Videotape builds so nicely, King. It is really lovely. I'm still a sucker for 4 Minute Warning though.

Will, I don't know if that's going to happen. I know what you mean, though, because Radiohead are so careful with the flow of the songs on their albums (I rarely listen to them shuffled), so hearing them out of context is not hearing them as the band intended. I think we'll be hearing them in a whole new light when the album is released.

VIDEOTAPE, yes, it's pretty much a PERFECT song. Kinda freaked me out when I first heard it: This haunting little piano ballad just builds and builds into a colossal anthem (the lyrics are very moving, some of their best by far). The version from the first Boston show is stellar, if you can find it. It was on a blog called Music is Art, I believe. Rock on.
